Articulation Agreement Between Missouri State University and Stephens College

Overview: This formal program articulation is made and entered into by Missouri State University-West Plains and Stephens College. By this agreement, Missouri State University-West Plains and Stephens College express a shared commitment to increasing opportunities for student access to and success in a 4-year institution of higher education.

Purpose: This agreement provides students who have earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Health Information Technology the opportunity to complete the Bachelor of Science in Health Information Administration ("Program") at Stephens College. Any Missouri State University-West Plains student, who earns an Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology and adheres to the guidelines within this agreement, is guaranteed that Stephens College will accept designated major related credits. Additionally, all general education credits will apply to the Bachelor of Science in Health Information Administration degree in a manner consistent with the treatment of native Stephens College students.

Conditions of Transfer:

Section I: Admissions and Matriculation

  • Missouri State University-West Plains students maintaining continuous enrollment under this agreement will be afforded the same treatment and protection as native Stephens College students enrolled under a specific catalog.
  • Criteria for acceptance into Stephens College will be the same for transfers as for native students.
  • Missouri State University-West Plains, upon request of students, will provide verification of completed courses to Stephens College upon completion of a transcript request from the office of registration and records. The transcript of students transferring from Missouri State University-West Plains will be evaluated by Stephens College.
  • Transfer students from Missouri State University-West Plains will have access to financial aid, scholarships and student services on the same basis as native students.
  • Stephens College will apply the same academic progress and graduation standards to Missouri State University-West Plains transfer students as those applicable to native students at Stephens College.

Stephens College will maintain transfer degree plans for this program to show equivalent courses.

Section II: Transfer or Credit

  • A maximum of 70 semester hours will be accepted by Stephens College from Missouri State University-West Plains to be applied to the Bachelor of Science in Health Information Administration degree.
  • Transfer students from Missouri State-West Plains, upon acceptance into the Program, will have junior standing at Stephens College.
  • A list of the course requirements is attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit A.

Section III: Program Plan

While a course-by-course equivalence was used in the development of this plan, this agreement presumes that the general education core requirements at Missouri State University-West Plains meet the general program articulation at Stephens College. Students falling under this program articulation agreement will be responsible for successfully completing the prescribed requirements.

Terms of Agreement:

This agreement is made and entered into in the academic year 2015-2016 and remains in force unless changed in writing by mutual agreement to of both parties. The agreement may be amended at any time with approval from both parties and is subject to annual review to assure currency with the respective degree requirements. Should either party desire to discontinue this agreement, advance notification of one year will be required.

Signatures:

Missouri State University-West Plains and Stephens College herby enter into this program articulation agreement leading from the Associate of Applied Science degree in Health Information Technology to the Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Administration by the affixing of signatures of the chief academic officers of both institutions.

The Health Information Administration (HIA) Program is designed to assist women and men in their quest to become Registered Health Information Administrators (RHIAs). Satisfactory completion of the HIA Program establishes a student's eligibility to sit for the national registration examination (RHIA).
