Enroll through Missouri State University-West Plains and earn 6 college credit hours toward an Associate of Applied Science degree in Law Enforcement while completing the Basic Jail Officer Training Program. Only students enrolled as degree seeking students through the university are eligible to apply for federal financial aid!

Enroll In Three Easy Steps

1. Apply For University Admission

   Submit an Application for Admission and $15 Application Fee

   Apply as a degree-seeking student (AAS in Law Enforcement). For an application, download one or apply online from our website at www.wp.MissouriState.edu/Admissions/Application.htm or call the Admissions Office at 417-255-7955.

   Request Official High School or GED and any College Transcripts

   Contact high school and any previous colleges and request transcript be sent by mail from the school to the Missouri State-West Plains Admissions Office. GED graduates should request that an official copy of their GED scores be sent to the Admissions Office from the capital city of the state in which they tested. Transcript request forms are available in the Admissions Office or call for assistance.

2. Apply For Financial Aid

   Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

   Apply as soon as possible for the Pell Grant and Stafford Loans.Be sure to list Missouri State University-West Plains’ school code (031060) on the FAFSA. For a link to the FAFSA online application, to request a paper FAFSA or online worksheet or for more information, go to the Financial Aid Office website at http://www.wp.missouristate.edu/finaid/ or call 417-255-7243.

   Apply for Veteran Benefits (if applicable)

   Call Missouri State University-West Plains Veteran Services Officer, Veronica Mays, at 417-255-7222.

3. Register For Classes

   Registration will take place following admission.

Please Note:

Students registering through Missouri State University-West Plains will be billed $1,450. This includes the $1,200 Basic Jail Officer Training Program tuition, which is then paid by the University to the Missouri Sheriffs’ Association.

Students accepted to the Basic Jail Officer Training Program will register for LWE 120-Basic Jail Officer Academy.
