Future Plans: I plan to transfer to Missouri State University and get my bachelor's in Athletic Training, then get my doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Hobbies:  I enjoy playing sports, especially volleyball and hanging out with friends.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I chose to come to Missouri State University-West Plains because I wanted to use my A+ and West Plains was close enough to home that I could go home if I needed to, but far enough away that I was finally out on my own.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I didn't know there would be so many opportunities to get involved on campus.  Also, I didn't think I would love college, but I love Missouri State University-West Plains!

Future Plans: I plan to get my associate's in general studies, transfer to Missouri State University in Springfield campus, major in Biology, and then become a licensed physical therapist.

Hobbies:  I enjoy riding my horses, reading books, and spending time with friends.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: Missouri State University-West Plains was my first choice because of the small classes, friendly staff, close proximity to home, and financial aid opportunities.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student:  I wasn't aware that being involved on campus would make going to class much more fun.

Future Plans: I go back and forth with what I want to do when I transfer to Springfield, right now it is to study Cell and Molecular Biology to be an orthodontist or Criminology and Criminal justice and work towards my degree in law to be a criminal defense lawyer.

High School: Francis Howell 2012

My Hobby: I am a cheerleader at Missouri State University-West Plains.

Favorite Artist: I'm not sure if I should admit this or not, but it is Justin Bieber.

Random Fact: I love old movies from the 50's. Also, I am in love with James Dean.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: The people here are so welcoming and the opportunities that are offered here are endless.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I had no idea that the teachers here are as involved with the students as they are. I love that about this campus. Having a teacher know you and care about your education is such a great thing.

Future Plans: Finish Nursing School at Missouri State University-West Plains and become an RN, then get a job at a medical spa somewhere.

My Hobby: I show Missouri Fox Trotting Horses.

Favorite Pet: My horse moved to college with me! I love to be able to go ride after a busy day at school.

Random Facts: I have a little sister who is 17 years old and my mom and dad have the same birthday.

Favorite TV show: "I Love Lucy"

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I chose Missouri State University-West Plains because the students seemed to be like me and the students I went to high school with, and as a high school senior scared to move out that was a comforting feeling. Everyone was very kind to me and made me feel right at home.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I did not know that I would enjoy going to college so much until I got here and everyone made me feel at home and welcomed me into their homes and community.

Hobbies: I love playing drums, soccer and paintball. I also enjoy making graphics, logos and videos.

Why I Chose Missouri State-West Plains:  I chose Missouri State University-West Plains because it is close to home and it's affordable. Plus, everyone here is so helpful and you know everyone.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: I didn't know how much the professors care for their students. All of the professors want you to succeed and it's really nice to know you have someone rooting for you.

In My Spare Time: I enjoy listening to music, watching movies, going antiquing with my mom and my sister and spending time with friends.

Random Fact: My senior class went on a Carnival Cruise to Cozumel and Progresso, Mexico my last week of high school. We graduated the day we got back!

Favorite Activities: I love going tubing on the lake, kayaking, swimming, riding four-wheelers and playing any type of sport.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I chose Missouri State University-West Plains because it was close to my home and they accept the A+ scholarship. This way I could save up on money before I moved away from home to finish college.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: Before I was a student at Missouri State University-West Plains, I didn't know the instructors would be so friendly and truly care about you.

Future Plans: After earning my Associate of Arts in Teaching in Spring 2015, I plan to earn my bachelor's degree in elementary education here through the Missouri State Outreach program. I hope to one day be an awesome teacher that my kids will remember forever.

High School: West Plains 2013

In High School: I played tenor sax and flute in the band, sang soprano in the choir and was the color guard captain my senior year.

Random Fact: I have been to New York City, Atlanta, Chicago and Washington, D.C. All of which were band and choir trips where we performed for an audience. 

Favorite TV Show: Duck Dynasty! That's a fact, Jack!

Favorite Ice Cream: Moose Tracks! Yummy!

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I chose Missouri State University-West Plains because I have lived in West Plains my whole life and I love my hometown. I also chose this university because it accepts A+ and has a ton of ways to get involved on campus.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I did not know how many people I would become friends with so quickly. You meet so many people who share the same interests as you very quickly.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I chose to come here because I wanted a school that offered the level of education that I needed, one that accepted my A+ scholarship, had a variety of clubs and student services and that was a few hours away from home.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I wasn't aware of the closeness that I now feel, not only between other students, but the faculty, as well. The friends that I have made here make me feel like I've known them for a lifetime. I know that if I ever have a problem, or need to be consoled, that I can talk to my teachers, my advisor or my boss, all while maintaining the comfort I would feel while talking to a friend.

Future Plans: Participate in the Nursing Program at Missouri State-West Plains, then transfer to a school in Springfield to obtain my Radiology Certification.

Sports: I enjoy rock climbing, repelling, kayaking and Cross Fit.

Favorite TV Show: The Big Bang Theory

Accomplishments: One of the most fulfilling things I've ever done is participate in the Tough Mudder competition. It's the most grueling run ever!

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I'm getting paid to go to school here. It's an A+ eligible instution and I've received several scholarships. I also like that it's small and close to home.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains: I didn't know that the Nursing Program was one of the top programs in the country.

Future Plans: After I graduate from Missouri State-West Plains, I will be doing an eight month internship at Walt Disney World, Orlando. After that, I will begin classes at the University of Central Florida pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

High School: Faith Assembly Christian School 2013

Random Facts: I attended a private academy for high school and graduated at the age of sixteen. I have a horrible sweet tooth. I can take down a dozen cupcakes in one day.

Interests: I like hiking, kayaking, fishing or anything that involves being outdoors.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I chose Missouri State University-West Plains because West Plains is my hometown. Staying here will let me experience college but still be close to home. 

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: One thing I didn't know was that Missouri State University-West Plains was an open enrollment campus. I also didn't know that I would enjoy college as much as I am.

Future Plans: I plan to transfer to a four-year school where I hope to get a degree in Engineering or Law or something else...I really don't know what exactly what I want to do yet! I know I want a degree that will allow me to make an impact in a community.

In My Spare Time: I like playing guitar, watching movies and hanging out with friends.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: Convenience was a huge part of it. It's close to home and is saving me money. My three older siblings all graduated from here and my dad is also one of the deans, so I was able to see first-hand what Missouri State University-West Plains is all about.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: I didn't know how easy it is to build relationships here. Most of the professors know the students by name, and because of the size of campus, you see a lot of the same people around, which makes it very easy to make friends.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I chose Missouri State University-West Plains because I enjoyed the people here. They were all really nice. I loved the small town and school. When I left Red Carpet Day, I knew this was the school for me because of the ambassadors and the fact that it felt like I was home.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains: I didn't know that my teachers would care so much about my college career. I thought it would be like high school.

Future Plans: I plan on graduating with my bachelor's degree in nursing.

Random Fact: I absolutely love animals. There is a cat that lives outside my dorm and I like to make sure he's got everything he needs. Now if I could make a little doggy friend, I would be set.

Hobby: I love to read and drink tea in a quiet relaxing spot. However, if I'm not in  a very relaxing mood, I play video games.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: Originally, I was only interested in the school because it accepted my A+ scholarship. Once I took a tour of the school and met some of the professors, I knew that this was the place for me.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I had no idea how similar my college experience would be to my high school experience. All of my teachers know my name. I am able to verbally participate in class, and if I still need help, I can easily visit my professors on campus.

Future Plans: I plan to finish my associate's degree here, then transfer to Missouri State University-Springfield to pursue a degree in elementary education. Then, of course, I will get married and live happily ever after.

In My Spare Time: I like to sketch/paint, cook, spend time with family, hang out with friends and go to movies!

Random Fact: I drove my boyfriend's racecar during a powder puff race and got second place! My adrenaline was pumping!

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I came here during Red Carpet Days and fell in love with the place. The faculty, staff, and even students are all extremely welcoming and friendly. Campus just feels like home. Also, I am able to use my A+ and go to a highly accredited University.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student:  I didn't know how much interaction was held between the students and professors. Everyone truly wants you to succeed and will do anything to lend you a helping hand.

Future Plans: I plan to get my AA in General Studies. After that, I really don't know yet. I'm looking into Secondary Education, Art, Biology or possibly Environmental Sciences.

Hobbies:  I enjoy being outside, going to the river, hanging with friends and expressing my artistic side through painting and drawing.

Why I Chose Missouri State-West Plains:  I chose MSU-WP because the first time I came down for a tour, everyone here made me feel immediately at home.  The staff, students, and surrounding community make for a close-knit group that is like family.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: I didn't realize how many different organizations there are here to join and how big an impact you can have through these organizations.

Future Plans: I plan on transferring to Missouri State in Springfield to get my bachelor's in Communication Sciences and Disorders, master's in Speech Language Pathology and become a Speech Pathologist.

Random Facts:  1) I can play the guitar and have written many songs; 2) I have been to many different counties; 3) Valentine's Day is on MY birthday.

Favorite Pet: I have a beautiful puppy named Dillard and an old lady dog named Macy.  (I named my dogs after department stores.)  I also had hermit crabs but my brother and I forgot we had them.  We accidentally stopped feeding them and they died.

Why I Chose Missouri State-West Plains (MSU-WP): I had no idea what I wanted to do after college, so it was nice to start at a school where the faculty and staff truly care about everyone.  Doing my general studies degree is helping me take classes that will aid in my future career goals.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains until I became a student here: I didn't know how much better college is than high school!  There are so many things to do around campus, as well as off campus.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I chose MSU-WP because I loved how everyone was so caring and friendly, making my first year college experience a ton easier and less overwhelming.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I  became a student: That your professors really do care about how you do in and outside of class.

Why I Chose Missouri State-West Plains (MSU-WP): I chose MSU-WP because of the many opportunities available to be involved in the school.  Student Ambassadors, Student Government, and cheerleading are a few of these.  Also, the A+ scholarship helps a lot!

What I didn't know about MSU-WP until I became a student here: I didn't know that I would enjoy college as much as I do.

Future Plans: I will finish my associate's degree, and then transfer to a four-year college and obtain my bachelor's in Psychology with a pre-medical track. After that, I will enroll in a medical school and become a psychiatrist.

Hobbies: I absolutely love playing music. I can play the trumpet, saxaphone, guitar, piano, drums, and anything you put in front of me. I taught myself how to play all of them, and I am currently teaching myself the violin.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains (MSU-WP):  I decided to attend MSU-West Plains after my first campus tour. During my tour, I was treated with the absolute best courtesy, and I learned that MSU-West Plains offered everything I needed: affordability, dependability, and close to home.

What I did not know about Missouri State-West Plains: I didn't realize the classes could be similar to high school but without as many hours per week. This makes getting homework done easier and quicker! Also, I didn't know that we could turn some assignments in online. This helped me very much, because I have awful handwriting.
