Future Plans: I plan to finish nursing school and then get a job as a nurse in an E.R.

My Hobby: I use a lot of my free time to study and hang out with my friends.

Favorite Artist: I just like to listen to whatever is on the radio​.

Random Fact: I am a big James Dean fan.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: The people here are so welcoming and the opportunities that are offered here are endless.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I had no idea that the teachers here are as involved with the students as they are. I love that about this campus. Having a teacher know you and care about your education is such a great thing.

Future Plans: I plan on getting a business degree and then using my skills in business in the ministry field.

Random Fact: I make YouTube videos.

Hobbies: I love playing drums, soccer and paintball. I also enjoy making graphics, logos and videos.

Why I Chose Missouri State-West Plains:  I chose Missouri State University-West Plains because it is close to home and it's affordable. Plus, everyone here is so helpful and you know everyone.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I didn't know how much the professors care for their students. All of the professors want you to succeed and it's really nice to know you have someone rooting for you.

Future Plans: After graduation, I plan to continue on to MSU-Springfield to complete college, and after getting a degree, join the military.

High school: Koshkonong, 2014

Hobbies: I enjoy competitive swimming, camping, floating, fishing, and hiking. I like to hang out with friends and just have a good time with great people.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I chose to come to MSU-WP because it is close to home, it is affordable, and a great place to get a start with an associates in general studies, since I have yet to determine my major.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: Before I was a student here, I had no idea that a college this small could have such a huge variety of amazing facilities and activities.

Future Plans: What I would really like to do is study art in the hopes of becoming a curator or otherwise involved in the field. In that case, I plan on transferring to a four-year university and obtaining a Master's in Art History.

Hobbies: My beloved pastimes include, but are not limited to: watching movies, antiquing, reading, and eating.

Favorite TV Show: An equal love for Pushing Daisies and Parks and Recreation.

Why I chose Missouri State West Plains: It felt like, and still feels like, a place where I can grow to understand my subjects while developing a deeper love for my interests. My professors care about what they teach along with the success of students. That's something I really appreciate.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: How engaging my classes would be. This is a place to learn, not just sit in class.

Future Plans: I have a goal of becoming a teacher, but I am undecided on what I would like to teach. I do know that I would like to earn my Master's Degree in Education, whatever I do decide to teach.

High School: Cabool, 2014

Hobbies: I love to make crafts and decorate. Being with family and friends is pretty fun too!

Random Fact: I love turkey hunting! And turkey season is always around my birthday, so it's a win-win!

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: Missouri State University-West Plains had so much more to offer me. There was the A+ program, the chance to join clubs or create your own, and the opportunity to live in The Shoe Factory Lofts, along with so much more. I chose Missouri State University-West Plains because it felt like a second home.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I didn't know how much the instructors really would care about you. If you put effort to talk to them and ask them questions, then they will give you answers in return with the same effort. And who knew that making friends could be so easy and fun?!

Future Plans: I plan to graduate from Missouri State University-West Plains with my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and teach at one of the local schools.

In My Spare Time: I enjoy CrossFit (I'm a trainer at CrossFit West Plains!), reading, photography, and kayaking.

Random Fact: I'm a total Marvel fan, and Guardians of the Galaxy is pretty much my favorite movie ever.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I chose Missouri State University-West Plains because it had a program (Early Degree Program) which allowed me to take classes on campus my junior and senior year and graduate high school with my associate's degree. Now that I'm out of high school, I continue to choose this university because it's close to home, I love the small class sizes, and can get my bachelor's here through the Missouri State Outreach Program!

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains beforeI became a student: Before becoming a student, I had no idea that the MSU-WP recreation center has the only racquetball court in town.

In My Spare Time: I enjoy listening to music, being outdoors, volunteering my time to help others, going to CrossFit, and spending time with my friends and family.

Random Fact: I LOVE Missouri State University-West Plains!!

Favorite Activities: I love going tubing on the lake, kayaking, swimming, riding four-wheelers and playing any type of sport.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I chose Missouri State University-West Plains because it was close to my home and they accept the A+ scholarship. This way I could save up on money before I moved away from home to finish college.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: Before I was a student at Missouri State University-West Plains, I didn't know the instructors would be so friendly and truly care about their students.

Future Plans: After earning my Associate of Arts in Teaching in spring 2015, I plan to earn my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education here through the Missouri State Outreach program. I hope to one day be an awesome teacher that my kids will remember forever.

High School: West Plains, 2013

In High School: I played tenor sax and flute in the band, sang soprano in the choir and was the color guard captain my senior year.

Random Fact: I have been to New York City, Atlanta, Chicago and Washington, D.C. All of which were band and choir trips where we performed for an audience. 

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I chose Missouri State University-West Plains because I have lived in West Plains my whole life and I love my hometown. I also chose this university because it accepts A+ and has a ton of ways to get involved on campus.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student:  I didn't know how much I would come to love it here. The college has become my home, my workplace, and my education. At the end of a long day, I still like hanging around with friends to study in the library or going to different organization meetings to plan events for the other students. It's what I love, it's what I live, and I can't imagine being anywhere else. I'm a Grizzly.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I wanted to stay close to home and save as much money as possible by using my A+ scholarship.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: Studying abroad is free of charge, and you have the chance to visit some really cool places!

Sports: I enjoy rock climbing, repelling, kayaking and Cross Fit.

Favorite TV Show: The Big Bang Theory

Accomplishments: One of the most fulfilling things that I have ever done is progress through ACL rehab for 5 and a half months and finally be cleared to return to the sport I love; CrossFit.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I'm getting paid to go to school here. It's an A+ eligible instution and I've received several scholarships. I also like that it's small and close to home.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I didn't know that the Nursing Program was one of the top programs in the country.

Future Plans: After receiving my Associate's in Teaching, I plan on transferring to Missouri State-Springfield and finishing my Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education.

Hobbies: I LOVE CrossFit, hunting, fishing, being with my family and friends, and playing video games.

Favorite TV Show: NBA Basketball (specifically Cleveland Cavaliers basketball)

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I chose to attend Missouri State University-West Plains because it feels like my home. This is where I have grown up, and I can't see myself anywhere else to start my career. It was also affordable and convenient.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I didn't realize that Missouri State-West Plains was so well known. I have discovered that the whole world knows about our small little campus! We have branch campuses all around the area and even in China!

Future Plans: After graduating MSU-WP with my Associate's in General Studies, I plan to transfer to a 4-year university like MSU-Springfield or University of Missouri-Columbia, where I will complete my Master's or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or Speech Pathology.

High School: West Plains, 2014

Hobbies: Hanging out with friends, reading, playing with my dog, Brooklyn, hanging out at church, playing/singing/listening to music.

Random fact: I'm a late-in-life baby...so I had a nephew by the age of 3. I'm now a proud aunt to three nephews and one niece.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: West Plains is my hometown, so this was a convenient way for me to be able to save up money for my later years in college while still being able to get a quality education.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I didn't realize how different handling your time would be. Rather than going into school at 8 and leaving school at 3, you come and go, often with an hour or two hour break in between. I didn't realize that this kind of education was geared towards individual critical thinking, not just getting a grade in a class.

Future Plans: I am still deciding on what I want to major in when I transfer to Springfield. Currently, I am interested in social work and psychology.

High School: West Plains, 2014

Interests: I enjoy being around people, having a good sense of humor, reading, traveling, and trying new things.

New Found Love: I recently started attending Zumba on campus and I LOVE it, even though I can't dance.

Favorite Ice Cream: A tie between S'mores Blizzard and Haagen-Daz Salted Carmel Truffle.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: Originally, I hadn't thought of attending MSU-West Plains. However, I attended a Red Carpet Day and fell in love with the campus and the opportunities it had for me.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I didn't know the university had such a great study abroad program in Dalian, China. In the future, I'll be looking into the program myself!

Future Plans: I am currently dually enrolled in MSU- West Plains, as well as the University of Central Florida in Orlando. I plan to move back to Florida next fall to attend the Disney College Program, before returning full time as a student at UCF.

High School: Faith Christian Academy 2013

Random Facts: I attended a private academy for high school and graduated at the age of sixteen. I have a horrible sweet tooth. I can take down a dozen cupcakes in one day.

Interests: I like hiking, kayaking, fishing or anything that involves being outdoors.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I chose Missouri State University-West Plains because West Plains is my hometown. Staying here will let me experience college but still be close to home. 

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: One thing I didn't know was that Missouri State University-West Plains was an open-enrollment campus. I also didn't know that I would enjoy college as much as I am.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I chose Missouri State University-West Plains because I enjoyed the people here. They were all really nice. I loved the small town and school. When I left Red Carpet Day, I knew this was the school for me because of the ambassadors and the fact that it felt like I was home.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I didn't know that my teachers would care so much about my college career. I thought the classes would be like high school.

Hometown: Colorado Springs, Colorado

Future Plans: I plan on graduating from MSU-WP with my Associate's degree in Teaching. After that I would like to major in English education.

High School: Poplar Bluff, 2013

Random Fact: I absolutely love animals.  Perhaps the hardest part about college for me is not having a furry friend to cuddle with on rough days, but I get to dream about the pets I can adopt when I do get my own place.

Hobby: I love to read and drink tea in a quiet relaxing spot. However, if I'm not in a very relaxing mood, I play video games.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: Originally, I was only interested in the school because it accepted my A+ scholarship. Once I took a tour of the school and met some of the professors, I knew that this was the place for me.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I had no idea how similar my college experience would be to my high school experience. All of my teachers know my name. I am able to verbally participate in class, and if I still need help, I can easily visit my professors on campus.

Future Plans: I plan to finish my Associate's in Teaching degree here, then transfer to Missouri State University-Springfield to pursue a degree in elementary education. (Yes, I am choosing to be poor forever.) Then I will get married and live happily ever after!

In My Spare Time: I like to sketch/paint, cook, spend time with family, hang out with friends and go to movies!

Random Fact: I have a matching tattoo with my grandpa! Hakuna Matata!

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I came here for a Red Carpet Day and fell in love with the place. The faculty, staff, and even students are all extremely welcoming and friendly. Campus just feels like home. Also, I am able to use my A+ and go to a highly accredited university.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student:  I didn't know how much interaction was held between the students and professors. Everyone truly wants you to succeed and will do anything to lend you a helping hand.

Future Plans: I plan to get my AA in General Studies. After that, I really don't know yet. I'm looking into secondary education, art, biology or possibly environmental sciences.

Hobbies:  I enjoy being outside, going to the river, hanging with friends and expressing my artistic side through painting and drawing.

Why I Chose Missouri State-West Plains:  I chose MSU-WP because the first time I came down for a tour, everyone here made me feel immediately at home.  The staff, students, and surrounding community make for a close-knit group that is like family.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I didn't realize how many different organizations there are here to join and how big an impact you can have through these organizations.

Future Plans: I want to graduate with my AA in general studies, then transfer to Mizzou to major in pre-law, then achieve a graduates degree in criminal law.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I chose MSU-WP because of the great opportunity. It affords students to set a great foundation to succeed in their pursuit of a higher education, as well as being an A+ school and close to my friends and family.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I didn't know I would enjoy the freedom so much. As crazy as it sounds, I didn't know if I would adjust to the minimal structure of my day, but the new responsibility and accountability is great!

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I chose MSU-WP because of the many opportunities available to be involved in the school.  Student Ambassadors, Student Government, and cheerleading are a few of these.  Also, the A+ scholarship helps a lot!

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I didn't know that I would enjoy college as much as I do.

Future Plans: I will finish my Associate of Science in Nursing, and then transfer to a four-year college and obtain my Bachelor's in Psychology with a pre-medical track. After that, I will enroll in a medical school and become a psychiatrist.

High School:  Mountain Grove, 2013

Hobbies: I absolutely love playing music. I can play the trumpet, saxaphone, guitar, piano, drums, and anything you put in front of me. I taught myself how to play all of them, and I am currently teaching myself the violin. 

Favorite Artist: Lady Gaga

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:  I decided to attend MSU-West Plains after my first campus tour. During my tour, I was treated with the absolute best courtesy, and I learned that MSU-West Plains offered everything I needed: affordability, dependability, and was close to home.

What I did not know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I didn't realize the classes could be similar to high school but without as many hours per week. This makes getting homework done easier and quicker! Also, I didn't know that we could turn some assignments in online. This helped me very much, because I have awful handwriting.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: I decided to attend MSU-West Plains because I had the choice to use my A+ and West Plains was close enough to home so I could visit during the weekends and breaks with ease, but I'm far enough away I can experience real life and be out on my own.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I didn't know how much of a hands-on campus it was with all the activities to get involved with. Also, I expected college to be extremely challenging and stressful but with all the help I get from the teachers and fellow students I always have help with school work when I need it.

Future Plans: I will likely transfer to Springfield and finish my degree in Child and Family Development emphasizing in Child Life. Ultimately, I want to work with young children to help them achieve each stage of development in areas of both mental and motor skills.

Hobbies: I enjoy playing the piano, creative writing, and spending time with friends

Random fact: I've been out of the country twice: once to China and once to Africa. And I hope those won't be the only times!

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains: Missouri State University-West Plains is close to home and was great about working with me financially in terms of applying to scholarships and grants. Along each step of the way every person I met also helped me become more and more sure that MSUWP was where I wanted to attend college.

What I did not know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I didn't know how friendly everyone is at Missouri State-West Plains! After just a week of classes, I've made several new friends and have had many opportunities to be involved in many events on campus. Everyone here is always eager to help and point you in the right direction!

Future Plans: I will finish my associate's here, and then I will transfer to Missouri State-Springfield to eventually obtain my Master's in English Education.

High School: Spokane, 2013

Hobbies: I read quite a bit, and I'm obsessed with Netflix. I also love being outside.

Random Fact: I can't wear adult shoes. I literally wear big kid shoes. (Size 3) So if you see me struggling to keep my shoes on, it's because they're normal-person sized.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:I chose Missouri State-West Plains because I wanted to go away from home, but I also wanted it to be affordable. So, I came here because I have A+ and the Grizzly House was avaliable to live in.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before I became a student: I had no idea how much I would love it here. I planned on hating this place because it wasn't my original choice, but it grew on me quickly. Now I love everything, and I'm super involved. This campus is something special. I seriously can't imagine going elsewhere.
