Why I choose Missouri State-West Plains: Missouri State-West Plains offers housing which allows me to live on campus and has plenty of ways to be involved on campus, adding to my success as a student.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: I didn't know how helpful the faculty and staff members are here in West Plains. If I ever have a question or need help with homework I know I can seek help at the tutoring labs or ask a faculty or staff member.

Did You Know? After attending school here, all of my credits earned here will transfer to Missouri State-Springfield where I will pursue my bachelor's degree.

Why I choose Missouri State-West Plains: It is far enough away from home, but not too far. Thanks to all of the scholarships I received, I get paid to come to school here.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: I didn't know about the free tutoring, which is very helpful. I advise everyone to take advantage of it.

Did You Know? Although I came from a big city, this small town has been very welcoming.

Why I choose Missouri State-West Plains: I chose Missouri State-West Plains because of it being located close to my home. Another huge plus was the ability to use my A+ scholarship.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: I didn't know about the amazing Darrs Honors Program. It has definitely been one of my favorite things during my time here.

Tips for Prospective Students: Stay positive and always be kind to people. Remember people are there to help you! Don't let yourself become overwhelmed.

Why I choose Missouri State-West Plains: Missouri State-West Plains is close to home, I am able to use my A+ Scholarship, it is a nice campus and a good school where people want you to succeed. Although I am unsure of my future career choice, going to school here gave me the opportunity to complete my general education requirements.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: There are many programs and clubs that you can join, there is a campus in China, and you can meet with an adviser at almost anytime to talk about scheduling or financial aid.

About Me: I was born and raised here in West Plains. I have one brother and I love to play basketball. I currently work at a pharmacy and I am 20 years old.

Tips for Prospective Students: Don't let yourself over stress, I used to do it all the time. Stay calm and everything will work out. Get involved! You'll enjoy your years at college more if you're going out and getting involved with campus activities.

Why I choose Missouri State-West Plains: Affordable and very friendly students and staff. Red Carpet Day encouraged me to come here, too.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: I was not aware of the great faculty. They truly care about their students and will do whatever it takes to help you succeed.

Tips for Prospective Students: Even though I commute from home, I am very involved on campus. I would suggest that prospective students do the same. Being involved gives you a connection to the campus that makes you want to do well. It also takes a lot of stress off when you are involved.

Why I choose Missouri State-West Plains: The amount of opportunities and connections that are available through a small campus. The Darrs Honors Program and the Student Ambassadors program were both influential on my decision to come to Missouri State-West Plains.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: The opportunity to test out of certain classes and the affordable study abroad opportunities. I also wasn't aware how interactive the professors are; they truly care about your education here at Missouri State-West Plains.

Did You Know? The majority of my credits earned here at Missouri State-West Plains are going to transfer to my, out-of-state, intended four-year college. Also, through the Darrs Honors Program I am able to take a trip to Europe this May!

Tips for Prospective Students: Apply for as many scholarships as you can! Due to the amount of scholarship money I have earned, I am going to school for free and am getting money refunded to my personal bank account.

Why I choose Missouri State-West Plains: The ambassador program, the opportunity for involvement, and the small town feel.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: The amount of student organizations and ways to get involved, how convenient and close everything is, and about the free tutoring.

Did You Know? Due to all the hard work, time and networking I am able to go to college for free.

Tips for Prospective Students: I encourage every student to apply to as many scholarships as you possibly can! Also, get out and meet people so they will remember you instead of just seeing a piece of paper with your name on it. God Bless!

Why I choose Missouri State-West Plains: Missouri State-West Plains because it is affordable, close to my home, a small campus and there are countless opportunities.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: I didn't know about the instructors' office hours. Since we are on a small campus you can get to know your professors and get help to do well even in the difficult classes.

Did You Know? I filled out one "catch-all" application on the Missouri State-West Plains website and was eligible for a lot of local scholarships. I was able to earn some money through those scholarships which helps me pay for college and other living expenses while attending college.

Future Plans: Continue my career in business. I am about to graduate with an associate's in Business-Management and I currently have a job at a local grocery store, G&W Foods, in Willow Springs. I plan to be the store manager and then work for their corporate office.

Why I choose Missouri State-West Plains: Missouri State-West Plains is so close to home which therefore gave me the option of staying home and commuting back and forth to classes. Missouri State-West Plains is also a smaller campus so I knew that the campus could offer smaller classes and that is a preference for me. When I graduated high school I did not really want to move away from home because I had a good job and attending Missouri State-West Plains was the best option for me personally.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: I did not realize that with being a student and having a valid BearPass ID that I could get into a lot of the events that take place in West Plains Civic Center for free. This includes the pool and fitness room and that was a neat feature that I could use those facilities free of charge for being a student at Missouri State-West Plains.

Did You Know? All of my dual-credit courses transferred to Missouri State-West Plains which will help me achieve my degree sooner. Also, Missouri State-West Plains has a "catch all" scholarship form which means that when I apply for that scholarship it automatically applies me to all scholarships that I am eligible for; this is a great feature because it saves me a lot of time.

Why I choose Missouri State-West Plains: It was a great opportunity to use my A+ scholarship while getting a full University experience.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: I did not realize how many bachelor degrees I could pursue at this campus without transferring to a four-year University.

Tips for Prospective Students: This University cares about the individual student. Professors love meeting with you individually. There is a therapy dog on campus twice a week and multiple ways to develop a support system on campus.

Future Plans: After I obtain my general education degree at Missouri State-West Plains, I plan to transfer to Missouri State-Springfield to get my BSN.

Why I choose Missouri State-West Plains: For a number of reasons! I was extremely interested in the Study Away program, that is what initially drew me to the campus and got me to sign up for Red Carpet Day. It was at that Red Carpet Day that I fell in love with the campus, the atmosphere, the ambassadors and Missouri State-West Plains.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: When I moved to West Plains, I moved two and a half hours away from home which is a little town with a population of 234. Coming to West Plains, I had no idea that my favorite thing would be home coming with me - a sense of community. I didn't know Missouri State-West Plains was such a close knit campus! I had no clue that such a big town could feel like home.

About Me: I am going to China this Spring with the Missouri State University-West Plains Study Away Program!

Tips for Prospective Students: Not only will A+ cover my tuition while studying abroad, but the University pays for my flights and housing while I am in China, too. All the credits I will obtain in China are Missouri State-West Plains credits, and then from Missouri State-West Plains to Missouri State-Springfield. There are also a lot of volunteer opportunities through the University that I can enjoy while studying abroad in China!

Why I choose Missouri State-West Plains: Missouri State-West Plains is close to home, my A+ scholarship covers my tuition, the small class sizes allow for more student-teacher interaction, and I was interested in the Student Ambassador program.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: I didn't know about the multiple opportunities for travel through the campus and that there is a club for everyone. If there isn't a club for you, all you need is an advisor and two other students to start a new club.

About Me: I went to West Plains High School and I continue to live with my parents at home while at college. I work on campus at Cass Hall and I work at the Jimmie Carroll Sports Complex. I am a full-time employee and a full-time student!

Tips for Prospective Students: Goals are achievable as long as you set your mind to pursue them. Hard work pays off, so stick with it and don't give up. The sooner you start, the closer you are to achieve your dreams.

Why I choose Missouri State-West Plains: Missouri State-West Plains seemed like the right fit for me. I enjoy being at home but still being involved on campus. This college was the best option for me in terms of affordability. The campus makes me feel comfortable and at home.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: I was very nervous about college, but now that I've completed a semester here I feel much better. I didn't know the faculty and staff would be so great. I thought I would be all alone and left to fend for myself when I came to college- however, that is not on the case. The instructors are very helpful and are always open to talk about any concerns a student has. It has been relieving for me as a student that strives for success.

Did You Know? I am a student who lives out of state while attending Missouri State-West Plains and was worried about the cost of tuition. However, this college offers a waiver for students like me who live so close and can't afford to pay the out of state fee. It has made Missouri State-West Plains affordable and possible for me to commute here.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: How friendly everybody in this small town is. West Plains has become a second home to me.

Future Plans: To transfer to Missouri State-Springfield to double major in special education and elementary education.

Why I choose Missouri State-West Plains: I wanted the full college experience. I'm from Brighton, which is about 30 minutes north of Springfield, Missouri. I thought I wouldn't get the full college experience going to Missouri State-Springfield or Ozarks Technical College, so I chose Missouri State-West Plains. I loved the campus when I had my private tour; the size was kind of like my high school. I thought it would be great for me and I would be able to make new friends.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: I didn't know how easy it was to get more involved on campus. The campus sends out newsletters to everyone's email weekly about the events going on around campus. I didn't know how friendly the students and teachers were. I love that this college has a math, science, and writing tutoring lab. There are so many opportunities at Missouri State-West Plains.

About Me: Choosing Missouri State-West Plains was one of the best choices I have made; I have made so many new friends! Living away from home gives you the chance to be more responsible and independent, without relying only on your parents.

Did You Know? I can use my A+ Scholarship at this college, and Missouri State-West Plains even offers a four-year program to receive your bachelors degree from this campus for some majors.

Did You Know? All of the credits I earn here will transfer to the four-year college I am going to attend. I am granted plenty of travel opportunities through the Honors program and student organizations.

Why I choose Missouri State-West Plains: Missouri State-West Plains was far enough from home, but somewhere that I could still use my A+ scholarship. I knew I wanted to be far away from home (to an extent), but still wanted to use my A+.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: I didn't realize how small the classes actually were. I graduated with 17 other students, so knowing I wouldn't be culture shocked was great!

Tips for Prospective Students: Be yourself! College isn't high school. It doesn't matter who or what you were in high school, you are going to have friends and you are going to fit in!

Why I choose Missouri State-West Plains: Missouri State-West Plains accepts A+ and this is my hometown. I get to stay close to my family, get a general degree, save and make money while attending.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: The amount of scholarships that are available. Student working positions are a life saver. You meet great people and get more knowledge about the campus.

About Me: I've grown up here in West Plains all my life, and I love it here.

Tips for Prospective Students: I would make sure to get involved as much as you can. Put yourself out there! You have the chance to make life-long connections. Do your best and have no regrets!

Why I choose Missouri State-West Plains: I was able to use my A+ scholarship, Missouri State-West Plains isn't too far of a drive from my hometown, and I had the opportunity to be a part of the Grizzly Cheer Team.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: I didn't realize the class sizes would be so similar to high school and I didn't realize they would offer so many activities for students.

About Me: My oldest sister graduated from Missouri State-West Plains, which is what encouraged me to attend this college.

Tips for Prospective Students: Being involved on campus has helped me meet new people, as well as introduce me to new opportunities. I came from a small town/school and Missouri State-West Plains was a good transition out of a small high school.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student: Some people think going to college in your hometown doesn't give you the college experience, but you can have a great college experience at Missouri State-West Plains!

Tips for Prospective Students: If you commute, bring your lunch! Or, schedule a break in your class schedule to grab a bite to eat.
