Why did you choose to attend Missouri State-West Plains?

I chose to attend Missouri State-West Plains because I knew several people from my high school were attending there and had spoken highly of the quality of education at an affordable price. Missouri State-West Plains also accepted the A+ Program, which I was pursuing in high school.

How did the West Plains Campus help you accomplish your goals?

Because the campus is so small, the staff and teachers are able to make more of a personal connection with each student, and I felt that this helped me to develop academically, professionally, and personally. Everyone was so supportive and eager to see each student succeed; it really helped build my confidence that I could achieve whatever goal I attempted.

Were you involved on campus during your time here?

I was a resident assistant (RA), cheerleader, student ambassador and personal math tutor.

What are your fondest memories of your time at the West Plains Campus?

I made a lot of friends at West Plains, and my fondest memories are of RA training and cheerleading. RA training was challenging, informative and entertaining. Cheerleading was something I had never done before, and the team was so supportive in helping me catch on; that experience is something I miss to this day!

How would you sum up your experience at Missouri State-West Plains?

I would say my time there definitely helped define who I am today. It was a great transition from high school to one of Missouri’s premier technological universities. I learned a lot about things like study habits and best practices, but I also learned a lot about myself and characteristics I wanted to walk away with as a person.

Do you have any advice for potential students?

I would definitely recommend taking a serious look at Missouri State University-West Plains; see if it’s for you! It’s a smart economic decision, getting the basic, mandatory classes out of the way at a much more affordable price. The quality of education you’ll get will prepare you to continue on with your academic and professional development.
