Why did you choose to attend Missouri State-West Plains?

When I graduated high school, I wasn’t quite ready to go to a four-year college, and I wanted the experience of going to college without getting thrown to the wolves at a bigger campus. I had a job, and I wanted to work and go to school. I worked almost full-time, and one of the extra perks was that I got to live at home with my mom and dad.

How did the West Plains Campus help you accomplish your goals?

With the smaller number of students in class, I could go to the instructors one-on-one, and that helped me get the basics at the start of my college career and the information and knowledge to go on to a bigger school. Now, they also have the A+ program that pays for the first two years, and our daughter is going to go to Missouri State-West Plains through that program.

What are your fondest memories of your time at the West Plains Campus?

I did get to meet a lot of new people from other towns. The basketball and volleyball programs had just started, and that was pretty cool. It was brand new to the area, and the crowds were quite large. Definitely the accolades the volleyball team, and now the basketball team, have gotten are something to be proud of.

How would you sum up your experience at Missouri State-West Plains?

Extremely positive. I loved it! It’s good to see how far the campus has come with the new buildings and technology; it’s neat to see how it has grown and continues to grow.

Do you have any advice for potential students?

Enjoy the atmosphere here, and if you decide to move to a larger school, remember the closer-knit classes and the attention you got at Missouri State University-West Plains.
