Why did you choose to attend Missouri State-West Plains?

Missouri State University-West Plains had a great reputation with a small campus feel. The opportunity to participate athletically with the men’s basketball team gave me a wonderful chance to meet hundreds of friends and alumni of the college. While athletics may have been the mechanism to introduce me to the college, the caring faculty and support from the community made it a wonderful experience that I will treasure for a lifetime.

How did the West Plains Campus help you accomplish your goals?

It provided me a quality education and helped me prepare for a four-year institution.

Were you involved on campus during your time here?

I was in the men’s basketball fraternity.  Haha!

What are your fondest memories of your time at the West Plains Campus?

I met my future wife at West Plains. She was a volleyball player for the Grizzlies at the same time I was playing basketball. The support from Bill and Linda Cates and their family made it an even greater experience. They were my adoptive family through the basketball program. Who can forget the fanatical fans of the Grizzlies and the wonderful atmosphere they provided? They really made you feel like you were part of something great!

How would you sum up your experience at Missouri State-West Plains?

Missouri State-West Plains provided me an opportunity to grow and develop as a young adult in a safe and supporting environment. The faculty, staff and administration cared about you and wanted you to be successful.

Do you have any advice for potential students?

Weigh your options, focus on what’s important and make decisions that will give you the highest likelihood of success.
