Sanctions

When rules are broken sanctions may be applied if a student is found responsible. Listed below are some possible sanctions.

1st Alcohol Violation Apology to all members of the Grizzly House, 20 hours community service if the alcohol is yours or guests, 10 hours if you have knowledge of it
2nd Alcohol Violation Apology to all members of the Grizzly House, notification of parents as allowed by Federal Educational Records Privacy Act (FERPA), 30 hours of community service if the alcohol is yours or guest, 15 if you have knowledge of it, encumbrance of records, alcohol assessment program and put on an alcohol awareness program in the Grizzly House
3rd Alcohol Violation Suspension from the Grizzly House, Level II probation with the University, Notification of parents as allowed by FERPA. Remanded to student life and development for sanctioning
1st Drug Possession in building Level II University probation, Grizzly House probation for the remainder of the academic year, notification of parents as allowed by FERPA, 50 hours of community service if yours or guest, 25 if you have knowledge of it, encumbrance of records, put on a drug awareness program in the Grizzly House, remanded for drug assessment at student's cost. Evidence and information will be presented to the West Plains Police Department.
2nd Drug Possession in building Automatic suspension from the Grizzly House for the period of one year. This means you will not be allowed to stay or even visit the Grizzly House. Evidence will be turned in to West Plains Police Department. Remanded to student life and development for sanctioning.
1st Tobacco Policy Violation Apology to the Grizzly House, 10 hours community service if yours or guests, 5 hours if you have knowledge.
2nd Tobacco Policy Violation Apology at Hall Meeting, 20 hours community service if yours or guests, 10 hours if you have knowledge, encumbrance of records, hall program on effects of tobacco on the body.
3rd Tobacco Policy Violation Remanded to student life and development for sanctioning.
1st Visitation Policy Violation 10 hours of community service if you or your guest, 5 hours if you have knowledge.
2nd Visitation Policy Violation 20 hours of community service if you or your guest, 10 hours if you have knowledge. Put on an educational program for the Grizzly House on a topic selected by you and the head RA.
3rd Visiting Policy Violation Remanded to student life and development for sanctioning.
Disrespect to RA or University Staff Remanded to student life and development for sanctioning.
Violation by Resident Assistant Level I probation with the University, 50 hours of community service, encumbrance of records and remanding to student life and development for sanctioning.

All community service shall be reported to the coordinator of student life and development and be monitored by the Grizzly House Resident Assistants. If community service is not completed the student shall be remanded to student life and development for further sanctioning.

Community Service shall include; but not be limited to:

  • Cleaning up the grounds around the Grizzly House;
  • Assisting custodial with needs they may have;
  • Assisting in approved student life and development programs.

All programs must be approved by the Head RA, must be documented and researched and must receive at least 2 weeks publicity before they occur.
