Commencement Information

The 2014 Commencement is May 17 at 10:00 AM at the West Plains Civic Center, 110 Saint Louis St., West Plains, MO 65775.

Apply to graduate

In order to graduate, a student must complete an Application to Graduate form. Students should apply for graduation at the time of registration for the semester in which they intend to graduate. An audit of the student's record will be made to verify graduation eligibility.

Applications are available at online forms and in the office of registration and records.

Pay graduation fee

A $55 graduation fee is assessed to the accounts of students who apply to graduate. An additional $20 graduation fee will be assessed for each concurrent and/or subsequent degree. Graduation fees cover the costs of the Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP) test, printing and mailing of diploma, and the diploma cover. Check your billing information through My Grizzly Den to see if payment needs to be made. It can be made through My Grizzly Den or at the business office, (417) 255-7260, in Cass Hall. This fee is automatically assessed to the accounts of students who plan to graduate and covers all costs of ordering diploma covers and printing and mailing diplomas with a final transcript. Failure to pay this fee will result in your records at Missouri State University-West Plains being encumbered.

Take the CAAP test

The CAAP test will be administered in Capstone courses and must be taken before a student may graduate. If a student is unable to take the CAAP test in a Capstone course due to extenuating circumstances, additional testing dates are available on the testing services webpage. Students may sign up for the CAAP test administered by going to testing services in the Garnett Library or by calling (417) 255-7222. Students should take the CAAP test in the same semester (session) of graduation.

Important: All students are required to present a photo ID on the day of testing. All students, except nursing students, should bring a calculator. Please arrive promptly for testing.

Clear all encumbrances

Student accounts must be cleared of all encumbrances before diplomas and final transcripts will be released. This includes settlement of all library and parking fines, payment of graduation fee and completion of Stafford loan exit interviews. Students receiving Stafford loans while a student at Missouri State University-West Plains may contact the financial aid office, (417) 255-7243, for information on how to complete the loan exit interview. Please contact the business office, (417) 255-7260, for more information on payment of fees.
