The Associate of Arts in Human Services degree is designed to provide the first two years of study required for the Bachelor of Science in Social Work degree offered by Missouri State University or similar baccalaureate programs offered at other four-year institutions.

 
 
 

 

Sample Careers and Salary Outlook

Those who complete a bachelor’s degree in social work will find work in a variety of settings, including child welfare, health care, behavioral health, criminal justice, military and veterans affairs, and many other community positions.All of these settings need trained individuals with these skills. According to statistics from the Bureau of Labor, the projected job outlook for social workers this decade includes a job growth of 7%, faster than the national average. The average annual wage for social workers is $55,350, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.About 53,800 openings for social workers are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire.
