Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology Mission

The Missouri State–West Plains Health Information Technology department is committed to student-first focus for those taking the AAS Health Information Technology - Medical Assistant degree option or Health Information Technology - Medical/Clinical Assistant Certificate through an unwavering dedication to provide educational opportunities by taking an active role in being an advocate for the health care professional by educating the communities we serve.

Purpose

The Medical Assistant Advisory Board for Medical Assistant Programs provides recommendations to the University about maintaining, building, and strengthening the programs offered in this area. Areas include curriculum, industry recognized credential information, market demand and resources. The ever-changing requirements of the academic disciplines, community and society will play a strong role in determining these recommendations.

Frequency

The Advisory Board for Medical Assistant Programs shall meet on an annual basis unless special circumstances require additional meetings.

Terms

The term of service will consist of one three-year term. Members may be reappointed for subsequent terms.

Membership

The Advisory Board for Medical Assistant Programs consists of a cross-section of members from the medical and academic communities to reflect the needs of the area. Board members will be encouraged to share current and anticipated needs and trends to provide meaningful input for the purpose of developing the strongest possible programs from both academic and clinical perspectives.

Faculty Coordinator

The Faculty Coordinator is responsible for scheduling meetings, establishing the agenda, and maintaining meeting minutes.
