Future Plans: I plan on finishing my associate's degree in business with an emphasis on accounting here at MSU-West Plains. I plan to attend MSU-Springfield to get my bachelors in Accounting.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

I live here in West Plains and plan not to leave. MSU-West Plains has a variety of class times, so I am able to work and attend college.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I was not aware of all the "extras" available for students. For example: Free tutoring, free pool use, free doctors visits, and free entertainment at the Civic Center.

Advice/Tips: 

About me: I am a nontraditional student. I have worked hard to find ways to be involved in campus around my work schedule.

Future Plans: I plan to graduate this spring with my associate's in Agriculture and Business. I then plan on either transferring to the Springfield campus, or going through the Outreach Program here on campus to pursue my Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture Education.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

I chose Missouri State West Plains because it was close to home, they accept the A+ scholarship, the class sizes are not too big, and they make you feel like you belong there which is what I like the most. 

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I did not know Missouri State - West Plains had a Post-secondary Agriculture Student chapter until I was a student here. 

Advice/Tips: 

Some tips that I would give to a prospective student would be to make friendships with the people in your classes. It will help you out tremendously to get involved in the different clubs and organizations on campus.

Future Plans: My plan is to finish my general education here, then transfer and eventually get my master's in Speech Pathology. I hope to work in a school with younger children.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

I was not ready to leave the West Plains community yet, and I was blessed with many scholarship opportunities from the campus so it seemed perfect. 

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I did not know how many computers were in Lybyer. I also did not know how everything comes together. By being an ambassador, I am learning how it all works. 

Advice/ Tips:

You should take every opportunity to get to know people.

Future Plans: I plan on graduating here in the spring, then transferring to University of Missouri to finish my bachelor's degree. I am interested in working for companies that oversee closed captioning or media.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

The affordability of the tuition as well as the small class sizes first drew me in. After meeting the faculty and staff, it is obvious that the university cares about my personal journey through education. 

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I did not know about the "love story" entailing the Smith-London Centennial Bell Tower! Reading how the structure was constructed was heartwarming. 

Advice/Tips: 

Push yourself into going to events! The care and planning put into them make everything more memorable.

Future Plans: After graduating from MSU-West Plains, I plan to major in English with a minor in political science at the University of Missouri then enter law school.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

 I chose Missouri State University-West Plains because it has a great and amazing staff. The courses are affordable and it is even close to home. 

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I didn’t know that we have not one, but two housing options. Your time is also way more flexible here at this college. 

Advice/Tips:

It is a good idea to meet with your college advisor regularly and plan the rest of your time on campus together. Also, don't forget to make friends.

Future Plans: I plan to recieve my degree by majoring in agriculture education.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

Because of its cost-effectiveness, closeness (courtesy of all staff members), and the overall feel of it. It is basically a second home. 

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I did not know the class sizes were small and that there were many nontraditional students.

Advice/Tips: 

I would try to make new friends the first week to make the process easier through your time in college.

Future Plans: I plan to receive my associate's degree and then transfer to Missouri State Springfield to major in Agriculture Education.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

I chose MSU-West Plains so I could use my A+ scholarship to pay for the majority of my expenses.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I did not know all of the opportunities that were available.

Advice/Tips: 

Get to know people in your classes. You can develop friendships or at least find a study partner.

Future Plans: I am working towards my entrepreneurship degree here at MSU-West Plains. After that, I plan on doing a paid internship at a local store in Nashville and expand my brand.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

I chose Missouri State University-West Plains so I could save money, stay at home, and figure out what I wanted to do with my life. 

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I did not how involved I would get on campus. Before enrolling, I had never toured the school. 

Advice/Tips:

Getting involved will not only help you make friends but will help you succeed in your classes.

Future Plans: After I graduate from Missouri State West-Plains, I plan to transfer to the Missouri State Springfield campus and get my master's in Psychology. I plan on using my degree to work with kids and young adults who have autism.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

I chose Missouri State University-West Plains because it has so many opportunities for scholarships including the A+ scholarship. Most importantly, the ability to get involved on campus through Student Government Association Honors and the Trio program. 

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I did not know there were so many opportunities to work on campus and even the chance to study abroad in China. 

Advice/Tips: 

Get involved on campus and find a leadership position. Not only is it a fun way to meet new people, but it also looks good on future job applications.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

There are so many resources that this university provides to ensure you succeed. 

Advice/Tips: 

All of your credits you earn can be transferred to MSU-Springfield.

Future Plans: I plan to graduate from Missouri State West-Plains with my associate's in agriculture business. Then complete a bachelor's in agriculture through the outreach program in Gohn Hall here on campus.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

I chose MSU-West Plains for it's small, friendly campus and friendly staff. Also, good quality education at an affordable price. 

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I did not know how diverse and lively the campus was. You will meet people from everywhere and there is always something going on. 

Advice/ Tips: 

Get involved on campus and make friends. I know you might hear this over and over but there two things that will make your college experience so much more enjoyable.

Future Plans: I plan to finish up my associate's degree in general education and move forward in a communications bachelor's degree. I would then love to achieve my master's in counseling and become an academic adviser for a high school.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

The campus was not only close to home, but I had always heard it was a close-nit, supportive environment.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I truly did not realize how vast the resources on this campus are.

Advice/Tips: 

The best decision I made was accepting a position of employment as a student worker. It not only opens your eyes to a whole new support system but what huge things you can achieve.

Future Plans: My absolute dream goal is to one day be able to teach English to Spanish speaking students. I am studying to become a teacher and a personal tutor.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

I chose Missouri State-West Plains because of the close, fun, and safe environment. This college made me feel welcome as soon as I walked in. 

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I did not know there were opportunities to study abroad! This is one of my dreams and it was so nice to find out that I could pursue it here. 

Advice/Tips: 

On your first day, sit by someone you do not know. I did and I made a friend who I am now super close to. Always try your best to be on time, even if it is five minutes early.

Future Plans: I will be transferring to either MSU-Springfield or an international college. I'd love to teach in another country. After becoming a teacher, I'd eventually like to become a diplomat or work for a global organization such as the UN or WHO.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

Before going into college, I had no idea what career or major I wanted to pursue. MSU-West Plains allowed me to explore my different interests. On top of that, the tuition is much cheaper than a four-year school, offered me multiple scholarships, and I was given many leadership opportunities. 

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I did not know all of the different job opportunities on campus. They help you become more involved on campus, your bosses are flexible so they can help work around your schedule, and the job can pertain to your intended major or interests. If you meet certain qualifications, you may even be given a scholarship. 

Advice/Tips: 

If you have any desire to travel at all, sign up for our China internship. It is a very inclusive deal; you pay the same tuition you would on the MSU-West Plains campus (A+ transfers too), the school pays for your dorm, vaccinations, airfare, and visa. Plus they even give you a paying job for your time overseas. I had a blast and learned so many new things.

Future Plans: I am majoring in general studies. I have not decided on a career path yet.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

I chose MSU-West Plains because I love the atmosphere. There is never a moment that I do not feel welcomed and appreciated. I also love that I am getting the full-college experience for a great price.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I did not know how many extracurricular activities were offered. It is also very easy to become involved.

Advice/Tips:

Try and get involved as much as you can. I have met some of my greatest friends by getting involved.

Future Plans: I am majoring in general agriculture with a certification in Equine Studies. After my associate's, I will be transferring to Denver, Colorado to an institution where I will obtain my veterinary technician license.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

I chose Missouri State-West Plains because I wanted to obtain a degree in Equine Studies all the while being a name and not a number. Here at MSU-West Plains, they offered the types of classes I needed and even the opportunity to have the one on one with specific professors. I feel more at home each and every day here.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I knew the classes were small but I had no idea that the professors all try their best to learn all your names and about you so they can develop the best learning experience for you and I thought this was awesome.

Advice/Tips: 

Making friends is a big thing to try and do because doing things alone are no fun. As a freshman student, moving five hours away from home was hard and really scary but just keep in mind that everyone around you is in the same shoes.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

The reason I chose Missouri State-West Plains is because they are affordable, and have small class sizes. 

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

The people are super friendly and have amazing places to eat here! 

Advice/Tips: 

If you join different organizations, it will help boost your friends and more knowledge about what is going on around campus.

Future Plans: I plan to complete my associate's degree this year here at MSU-West Plains then transfer to MSU-Springfield to receive my bachelor's degree in agriculture business.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

I chose MSU-West Plains because I was A+ eligible and it was accepted. A big influence on this decision was also some of the former ambassadors that I spoke to about the campus and agriculture program. 

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I did not know how many opportunities were offered through the campus. Such as; job opportunities, scholarships, different connections that can help assist you later in life, etc.

Advice/Tips: 

This campus will always make you feel at home and they ensure that you have the correct connections to receive the best experience possible.

Future Plans: I still have a lot of ideas for my future but I am leaning towards becoming a high school history teacher.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

I chose Missouri State-West Plains because of how close to home it is and the opportunities it provides. 

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I was unaware of how many programs are offered and how many different career paths could be taken here. 

Advice/Tips: 

Do not forget to take a break every once in a while. There are so many clubs on campus and if you do not find one that fits you, make one!

Future Plans: I want to graduate MSU-West Plains with my associate's in nursing. I plan to transfer to Missouri State-Springfield to obtain my bachelor's and then begin working as a BSN in an emergency department.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

I chose Missouri State-West Plains because of the friendly atmosphere and the class sizes. I also wanted to continue my cheerleading career as a Grizzly. 
 

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I did not know that in the Lybyer building, they have IT assistants on staff. They can help with login information or just general computer/technology issues. 

Tips for prospective students:

Do not be afraid to get involved on campus and branch out to meet new people.

Future Plans: I plan on getting a bachelor's in nursing. Then I will move on to get a doctoral degree to pursue being a nurse practitioner.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

I grew up not far from here and I knew the place well. 

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

I did not know how friendly everyone would be. I felt accepted on this campus.

I totally recommend getting involved on campus!

Future Plans: I plan to graduate from Missouri State University-West Plains with my associate's degree in general education, then transfer to Missouri State-Springfield to get my bachelor’s in interior design.

Why I chose Missouri State-West Plains:

Because they were a smaller campus, they accepted my A+ and I could continue my cheerleading career.

What I didn't know about Missouri State-West Plains before becoming a student:

Something I did not know about this campus is that it has the homiest feel. It is honestly my home away from home.

Advice/ Tips: 

A tip to students is to make friends and get to know people. The friends you make here will be your support system.
