Move-in Weekend Updates

Hey Grizzlies!

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, we have made some adjustments to our Move-In Weekend processes in order to best meet your health and safety needs. As time progresses, our processes are subject to change. The University will continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and will implement policies that reflect the national, state and local restrictions in place at the time. Stay up-to-date with the University’s COVID-19 response and current policies.

Important Details:

  • Move-In Weekend Dates: Thursday, August 13th – Sunday, August 16th
  • Check in Times:
    • First check-in hour: Begins at 8 am
    • Last check- in hour: Begins at 4 pm (alternative times are available upon request).
  • Each resident will be given two hours to unload and unpack their belongings.
    If accommodations are needed for longer periods of time to move into your room, please contact the Office of Residence Life and discuss that with a staff member.
  • Each resident will be permitted to only have two guests with them during the check-in period.
  • Personal Protective Equipment will be available during check-in. You can also bring your own.

Campus Life

Moving to a new place can be intimidating, but living where you study will help with your transition. Missouri State University-West Plains offers two residence halls: the Grizzly House and Grizzly Lofts. Our residence halls will help you build relationships while also providing comfortable places to study and relax.

Student Activities

From Welcome Week and back-to-school picnics to homecoming activities and Grizzly Athletics games, there are plenty of opportunities for you to experience the exhilarating lifestyle of a college student.

Student Recreation Center

Students can play a pick-up game of basketball, volleyball or racquetball in this 10,000-square-foot multipurpose building. The $2.2 million facility is located next to the Grizzly House and a few blocks from Grizzly Lofts. The center also serves as an emergency storm shelter for the campus. In addition, it can be used to host a variety of student-related activities and events.

Housing

The student Housing Contract is for the entire academic year. Contracts for the 2019-2020 academic year are available. Contracts for the 2020-2021 academic year are now available as of Jan. 27, 2020. To complete a Housing Contract, include a $100 deposit and a meningitis vaccination record.

Grizzly House Cost

For the upcoming 2020-2021 academic year (fall 2020 and spring 2021), the cost per semester is $3,093, which includes utilities and 19 meals per week at the Putnam Student Center.

Grizzly Lofts Cost

For the 2020-2021 academic year (fall 2020 and spring 2021), the cost per semester is $3,475 which includes utilities and 19 meals per week with on-site dining.

Grizzly House

Grizzly House is located in the heart of campus.

Grizzly Lofts

Grizzly Lofts is our newest residential community.

Housing Policy

All single students under 21 years of age who have completed fewer than 30 hours of transferable credit after high school graduation and live outside of the campus' seven-county primary service area (Howell, Oregon, Shannon, Texas, Wright, Douglas, Ozark counties) are required to live in University housing. These students must have on file a completed Student Housing Contract or an approved request for exception form before enrolling in classes at Missouri State-West Plains.
